The headset is what creates all the magic of FPV: it is what drops you into the cockpit. DJI offers two references, the Goggles 2 and the Goggles 3. Here is how to choose.

The Goggles 3’s big new feature: Real View Passthrough

This is THE feature that justifies the Goggles 3. A front camera lets you see the real world without removing the headset: you can take off, land, chat or move around without ever breaking the immersion. On the Goggles 2, you have to lift the headset each time. Once you have tasted it, it is hard to go back.

Screen, latency and comfort

  • Goggles 2: Micro-OLED 1080p/100 Hz screen, built-in dioptre correction, very light (290 g).
  • Goggles 3: high-brightness Micro-OLED, ultra-low latency (< 24 ms), optimised comfort with better weight distribution.

Both offer a superb image. The Goggles 3 go further on brightness (useful in bright sun) and comfort on long sessions.

Vision correction

The Goggles 2 include an adjustable dioptre correction directly — handy for glasses wearers. The Goggles 3 also adjust but via a different system; check compatibility with your correction before buying.

Compatibility

Both headsets are compatible with the Avata range. The Goggles 3 are the natural companion of the Avata 2 and Avata 360, while the Goggles 2 remain an excellent choice if you find them at a good price or used.
